Reading Wise T. Owl Story Of Rules at Narooma

Author Maureen Nathan explained how the Wise T. Owl Series came about. She then read Wise T. Owl's Story of Rules to Sixty Narooma Pubic School Students.

From the moment the sixty well behaved Narooma Public School Year 2 students filed into the airy space of Narooma Library, author Maureen Nathan felt a great rapport. They sat cross legged on the floor, engrossed,  as she explained the reasons for the creation of the first book Wise T. Owl's Story of Money. She also explained that the series has been created to promote interaction and discussion.

Maureen then read from Wise T. Owl's Story of Rules, which was the book of choice as the classes are currently engaged in discussion about Rules. Two teachers assisted, by sitting on either side of her, turning the pages of two extra copies of the book so that the children could follow. The students interacted with the author, and the illustrations. They related well to the games played on the beach, and also to the  complexity and variety of rules that govern the various football codes.

The hour sped past, with many questions flowing as to why rules vary according to the situation. Narooma Public School was  then presented with an autographed copy of Wise T. Owl's Story of Rules for their library.

Maureen thanks the effort put in by Eurobodalla Librarians, Narooma Library Staff and Narooma Public School for the opportunity to interact with her readers.

The first three books in the series; Wise T. Owl's Story of Money, Wise T. Owl's Story of Rules and Wise T. Owl's Story of Trust are available at Narooma Library
